How to install and use the iBanFirst authentication mobile app

The iBanFirst app is a mobile application that secures your financial operations on the iBanFirst platform. Use it to approve or deny login attempts and sensitive operations — including the creation of payments, beneficiaries, and new entities — via push notifications or face/touch ID.

From mid-2026, Google Authenticator will no longer be supported. You must switch to the iBanFirst app for all 2FA approvals.

Time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) — like the codes Google Authenticator generates — are increasingly vulnerable to phishing, where you're tricked into entering your code on a fake site, and real-time interception, where the code is captured and used before it expires.

The iBanFirst app is more secure. Instead of approving multiple operations with a single time-based code, you'll receive a separate notification for each operation to approve individually. It also meets the Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) of the Payment Services Directive (PSD2).

1. Go to "Settings" in your iBanFirst account and click "Secure your account", then click on "Set-up strong authentication"

Than click on "Setup authentification"

You can also set-up your iBanFirst authentication app directly from the pop-up or the banner on the platform.

2. Follow the instructions on the screen to configure your iBanFirst authentication app

3a. When the iBanFirst app is installed on your device, open it and follow the instructions

3b. After you select "Link my iBanFirst account", a QR code will appear on your screen

3c. Use the iBanFirst app to scan the QR code

3d. Activate push notifications on the iBanFirst app

4. Protect your iBanFirst account by enabling safe mode

5. You can now initiate your financial operations safely
