What's new in 2025?
As part of the global SWIFT ISO 20022 migration, pacs.008 is now used for cross-border payments. Starting November 2025, pacs.008 acts as:
Payment confirmation
A document to share with your suppliers or clients
Payment evidence for compliance
A reference for tracking via SWIFT gpi using Unique End-to-End Transaction Reference.
To resume, pacs.008 is the SWIFT message that financial institutions use to send your payment to the beneficiary bank. It is also your “digital proof” of the payment and includes a unique tracking ID.
What do you need to know?
Same purpose: pacs.008 is the official proof that your payment has been sent.
More details: It contains richer, structured payment information, making it easier to track and reconcile.
Same process on our platform: You can still download it from the "Proof of Payment" button, just like before.
Mandatory unique tracking ID (UETR): pacs.008 always includes a payment reference that allows you and your beneficiary to track the payment in real time.
Where can I find the proof of my payment?
As for payment PDF confirmation, you can find your pacs.008 copy by clicking on the "Proof of Payment" button on the detail page of one of your payments.
Clicking on this button will immediately download to your device the Proof of Payment, containing the pacs.008 file in XML format.
FAQ
I cannot find the proof of my payment, what can I do?
Please note that proof of payments are not immediately available after you have initiated your payment - the document will be available when the payment has left iBanFirst (usually a couple of hours after payment initiation).
If nonetheless, you have a SWIFT payment that has been sent from iBanFirst, but for which you cannot find the proof of payment, please contact your account manager.
Is pacs.008 available for SEPA payments ?
No, pacs.008 proof of payments is only available for SWIFT (cross-border) payments. It is not available for SEPA, DSP or internal payments that use other payment files.
